October has, and continues to be a wonderful month weather wise. The days have been dry, mild and mainly sunny with a gentle breeze for the most part. The fine weather has made for pleasant walks in the woodlands surrounding me. No two days are the same as the colors are constantly changing. The falling leaves cover the footpaths. The trees having shed their leaves and the grasses having wilted make the woodlands seem more open. Over the past few weeks I have seen many deer the occasional fox as well as many squirrels. Lana enjoys her time rummaging through the trees and bushes taking in the smells of nature and other animals. There are a great number of Pheasants in the fields and woods giving Lana lots of exercise as she runs after them. Content to get within a few meters she never tries to catch them and is content to watch them fly off, only to return later when we have passed by. According to the weather forecasters change is on the way. While we have enjoyed temperatures in the mid to upper 20's so far this month in the next few days we may be lucky to see daytime temperatures reach 8 or 9 degrees at best.
