After a few weeks with friends in Rome I’m back on the road again. I set off last Friday afternoon, but only drove a few kilometres before stopping for the night, in a camperstop in Ciampino. I needed to sort out the motorhome, have a clean up, put my bike on the back and tidy up the garage space. I also made and fitted a couple of brackets to support the new microwave I bought a few weeks ago.
Leaving Ciampino I took the GRA, the Italian version of the UK’s M25 motorway, around Rome to pick up the SS1 via Aurelia, one of the original Roman roads which still makes it way along Italy’s west coast before crossing into France and eventually all the way into Spain.
Although the weather forecast hadn’t been that good Saturday turned out to be a nice sunny day for the most part. I passed Civitavecchia, looking down onto the port where there were several large cruise liners moored up, no doubt the passengers had been taken by coach to “Do%2
