After three weeks at the Atlantica Parc D'Imourane campsite Godfredo and I are keen to move on, but having decided to stay for Christmas and New Year, waiting for our visa extensions to come through, we started making plans to celebrate. Having made friends with a number of other couples parked up nearby we all agreed to have a communal lunch together on Christmas Eve. As there would be French, German, Swiss, Irish, Italian and English joining in it was decided that everyone should bring some food and wine which could be shared. In the end it turned out that most prepared food for themselves for the main course and that starters and deserts would be shared. Gillian offered to cook a chicken curry with rice to make things different, I made up different nibbles to start with and took the most important thing, the red wine. The sun shone as we set up our tables alongside our motorhomes, there were about twenty of us, which made for a great time. Having started early at midday we were still sitting, chatting and drinking four hours later. Gillian's curry was very tasty, although she thought it was to hot, for me it was perfect. Tom and Fran, the Irish couple prepared an Irish stew, the Germans a selection of sausages with vegetables as did the Swiss, I never really saw what the French ate. The wine flowed, in large quantity's, Godfredo produced a bottle of Grappa and shots were enjoyed to finish the get together.
Tom, Fran and I sat with Gillian & Godfredo outside their motorhome for an hour before the temperature dropped and we all retired to Tom & Frans camper where we enjoyed more drinks till almost 10 pm, after which we went back to our own campers. It had been a great day, with much laughter, probably helped by the quantity of wine consumed by everyone.
It seems I've been travelling all my life. For the past eight years I've been following a simple, nomadic lifestyle, living and traveling full time in a camper van and meeting with other like minded travellers.
