With only a couple of weeks or so before I needed to get back to see the doctors I decided to take a quick drive south to the edge of the Draa Valley and the Sahara. I had been told of a place to visit called Amtoudi some 60 kilometres from Bouizakarne and about 30 kilometres from the road to Tata and Zagora which runs along the side of the Draa Valley. I'd driven the length of the Draa off-road back in 2004 in my Land Rover and have always been fascinated by the area. On the way from Agadir I spent a night in Takat at a small French owned and run campsite. The following morning I took the main N1 route south to Bouizakarne then east until I reached the turnoff for Amtoudi where I arrived mid afternoon. I found a campsite at the foot of the Anti-Atlas mountains and checked in. I love Moroccan food, but so far on this trip have had very little so when I was offered a Tajine for dinner I didn't hesitate, it was excellent.
It seems I've been travelling all my life. For the past eight years I've been following a simple, nomadic lifestyle, living and traveling full time in a camper van and meeting with other like minded travellers.
