After two weeks of radiotherapy I decided to take off for a weekend. Niki was working so this time it was to be a solo trip. Once again I drove north to Montalto for a couple of nights. Now into June it was much busier than before, but I managed to find a good spot in the designated camper sosta. I prefer to wild camp, but in the summer season and right on the beach it's becoming harder to find places to stop.
The weather was fantastic, 28 - 30C with clear blue skies. I loved being back in TC, having barbecues, walking along the beach and listening to the hustle and bustle coming from the other campers around me. A super weekend, but I had another six weeks of treatment to look forward to before I could get back on the road proper, can't wait.
In between visits to the hospital I've been doing a few small modifications to TC. The drain taps for the fresh and waste water tanks were, which I couldn't understand, attached to the underside of TC by cable-ties. Wanting something better and stronger I found two small cabinet legs in metal. The diameter of the legs was exactly the same as the tap fixing and the square end that fixed to the cabinet had holes which would make a perfect fixing for me.. I cut the tubular legs off, attached the taps and then using some small nuts and bolts fixed the the brackets to the underside panels seams of TC, perfect, much better, stronger and better looking. I also made an extra shelf in one of the cupboards which I can use for my cutlery tray and cooking utensils.
Taking advantage of the perfect weather for the last weekend in the month I once again took off for a short break. It was back to Montalto and the camper sosta area which is both quiet and close to the beach. Arriving on Friday afternoon there ware plenty of places to park up in and we choose a spot at one end of the sosta which gave us a little shade. During the late afternoon and evening the sosta filled up. There were many small groups of Italians enjoying a friendly get together.
Opposite the sosta, just a few steps away, is an area of pine woods that separate the camper sosta from the beach front. Along with a number of others we set up our table and chairs on Saturday beneath the pine canopy to enjoy lunch alfresco style. Once again it was a super, relaxing and enjoyable weekend, although I did have a problem with the bathroom sink waste and taps which I will have to overcome in the next few days. Only having the weekends free until my radiotherapy is finished its not possible to travel too far, but I am really looking forward to being able to travel without restrictions before to long.
It seems I've been travelling all my life. For the past eight years I've been following a simple, nomadic lifestyle, living and traveling full time in a camper van and meeting with other like minded travellers.
