After a hectic few weeks in the Castelli area of Rome it was time to move on. Up early I drove Niki to work before leaving Rome along the SS 4 Via Salaria heading north. I’d arranged to meet up with friends in Lake Como, a drive of nearly 720 kilometres. Having driven directly there in a single day before now, I didn’t feel the need to do so again, but decided to spread it out over a couple of days. There was little traffic as most Italians take their annual holidays in August, going mainly to the coastal areas, so it made for a pleasant drive. I stopped for a night in Modena at the Camping Club Mutina. After a good nights sleep I continued on arriving at my destination alongside Lake Como at the end of a second day’s easy driving.
Lake Como is one of my favourite places in Italy and it was a pleasure to make my way along the western side to Menaggio where my I would be staying for a couple of days.
It seems I've been travelling all my life. For the past eight years I've been following a simple, nomadic lifestyle, living and traveling full time in a camper van and meeting with other like minded travellers.
